I tried that, but the one I found, upon dis-assembly had a similar crack. Since my original seat broke farther away from where the bar welds to the frame I'm going to cut out about an inch section and then put a piece of solid steel inside the hollow cold rolled piece. The bar is going to run the length of the original tube. Then I will weld 360 around both sides and drill a small hole towards the other end of solid stock and spot weld it just in case the stubborn bugger wants to rattle.
She may be in rough shape but I still love her.
